Testimonials

Ananda was an absolutely fantastic guide. He quickly assessed our skill set and identified engaging destinations and routes that matched what we could do as a group. When riding on sections near our skill limits, he gently pushed us with a “you can do it” attitude and the phrase “No worry, chicken curry!”. Always said with a smile and often punctuated with his charming and iconic laugh.

He handled all interactions with locals for us (securing prices lower than we would have gotten), and ensured we were comfortable and getting what we wanted from the trip. He was an absolute gem to find in Nepal. He made such a positive impression that many of our group riders have stayed in contact with him even after we returned home.

If you're in Pokhara and looking for a very friendly and competent guide, I highly recommend a trip with Ananda.

In Nov 2025 I went on a trip to Pokhara to go on a tour of the Upper Mustang on motorcycle with friends.  We arrived most of a week ahead of our scheduled tour and wanted to get some local riding experience as well as see the local sights in Pokhara.  One of our group was befriended by Ananda and he became our tour guide for the week.  He is truly amazing.  His English is excellent, his attitude is very upbeat, and he's very experienced with the area and the places to see.  He has good relationships with the bigger tour operators and rental shops and made things so easy! I cannot say how much I enjoyed Ananda's laugh and how fun it was to learn about Pokhara and take in the local culture with him!  Highly recommended.

Nepal is spectacular, this was the trip of a lifetime! If you are even considering a Nepal trip, just do it. But this is a recommendation for Royal Himalaya Tours…

I cannot recommend the owner Ananda enough. He took a relatively new off-road rider like me and encouraged me to do things far beyond my comfort zone. We had a great time laughing together at my spills. Then he’d pick up me, my bike, and my spirits. By the end I was riding on terrain I would not have believed possible through the arguably most stunning scenery in the world.

On top of that Ananda is utterly charming and his English is great— plus he has a wonderful family. It was was fun to occasionally hang out with while so far away from home.

PS: his wife Bima makes the best milk tea!

Nepal is a wild and wonderful place to visit, full of awesome people and unbelievable beauty. Riding an adventure bike through the Himalayas was a dream come true, with no shortage of unforgettable moments. Having a great guide was key, which is exactly what Ananda is. He will get you there with a smile on his face and a bigger smile on yours. What more can you hope for?"

I highly recommend Ananda from Royal Himalayas. I came to Nepal to do a tour through the Himalayas via motorcycle, however I didn’t have any off-road experience. I spent 2 days with Ananda to work up the skills to ride on the challenging terrain that Nepal offered. He was able to produce his guide permit immediately so I knew he had certification. We worked on riding in Pokhara traffic and the various challenges it has, and then proceeded towards Australian Base Camp and stayed at a tea house along that route. Ananda was able to coach me through riding on the suspension bridges, tight turns and switchbacks, mud, riding over large rocks and boulders, and everywhere in-between. During this ride, he also introduced me to various Nepalese cuisines, and cultural norms. The hospitality was at an 11 and would recommend anyone to ride with him regardless of skill."
